About

Palacegarden Pekingese is a renowned UK kennel breeding and showing top quality Pekingese. The kennel is located in the heart of the Northumbrian countryside and is owned and run by Jim and Jean Smith.

The home of Palacegarden Pekingese

Jim and Jean have always had this fabulous breed as pets but in 1996 began to show and breed Pekingese. Their affix, Palacegarden was registered in 1998 and was chosen because Pekingese are associated with the Imperial Palace of China and because gardening has always been Jim and Jean’s second passion.

Dogs enjoying their outdoor run

The Pekingese all live and sleep in the house and during the day they enjoy lots of fresh air and exercise – essential for good bone and muscle development – in extensive garden runs.

Jim and Jean have bred a number of highly acclaimed dogs, including 7 champions to date. Perhaps the most famous of these is GCH Palacegarden Malachy who was named Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show (USA) in 2012. Palacegarden Pekingese also made UK Kennel Club history by being the first kennel to breed 3 champions all from the same litter: Ch Palacegarden Sullivan, Ch Palacegarden Donovan and Ch Palacegarden Finnegan at Delwin.
