Palacegarden Bianca

Bianca was a winner from 6 months old. At 8 months she was Best Puppy in Show and Best in show at North of England Toy Dog Group Open Show 2010. There were 155 entries at that show. She continued with great wins at Open and Championship shows. She won numerous rosettes for BIS ,RBIS, BOB, RBOB culminating in winning Bitch CC and Best of Breed at Crufts 2012. This was a dream come true for Jim & Jean, a win which every dog breeder dreams of.

Bianca’s world-wide fame, however, is because she was the first dog to follow the Kennel Club’s new ruling that the BOBs in the 15 ‘high profile breeds’ must pass a vet check. Six of the 15 BOB winners failed and Bianca was one of them. Her BOB awarded by a top breed specialist was withheld and she was excluded from the Group judging. Condemnation of the Kennel Club’s actions went viral and there was international condemnation of the vet test by breeders, exhibitors and judges. The Canine Association was established to work for the abolition of the ‘vet test’. We, as did the other five owners, had our dogs examined by our own vets and specialists and given a complete bill of health but there was no appeal granted for any of the dogs which failed the KC vet test.

Bianca was never shown again. We hoped to breed from her but she became ill with pyometra and was spayed to save her life. Bianca stays with us as a much loved pet. Her bloodlines are continued through Perdita, Gertrude and Georgina.
